Nine auto makers including Siri support in new cars

Apple announced at WWDC that Siri would be getting an update. This is big because for the past year almost, Siri has been in beta form. This update includes a long list of features, one of which is called “Eyes Free”. This feature allows you to send messages, answer calls, hear calendar info, ect. All this will be done through your car. Apple is partnering with nine major auto makers who have agreed to fully integrate Siri-support over the next 12 months. You’ll soon be able to buy a car that “just works” with your iPhone, and no longer need to hold the home button or click the headphone button to bring Siri up. This is a big step because it shows that Apple is serious about being integrated into our everyday lives, more than it already is.

The full list of auto makes is as follows:
  • BMW
  • General Motors
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Land Rover
  • Jaguar
  • Audi
  • Toyota
  • Chrysler
  • Honda
I’m excited for this because it is starting to look more and more like those sci-fi movies we all used to watch about the future. It’s so incredible to be able to see things like this happen and progress farther than they were years ago.
