New Xbox One Preview build brings backward compatible games to the Store

There's a new preview build for Xbox One, and it sees the arrival of Xbox 360 Backward compatible games in the Store. Coming from the TH2 branch, the update makes it easier to discover games that are backwards compatible with the older console.

The availability of backwards compatible games not only helps to increase the number of games Xbox One users can choose from, but also helps to reduce the cost of gaming -- older games are significantly cheaper than newer titles.

The update means that fans of Xbox 360 games will be able to browse through the Store and grab copies of their favorite titles from there.

There are two key new features to look out for:
  • Purchase Xbox 360 Backward compatible games: Games today will be discover-able via Game hubs and Activity feed and over the next 24 hours the Store programming will be live for a full end to end purchasing experience
  • The Achievements snap app is no longer in the build -- use the guide experience to view your achievement's progress
As with other updates, this one is not just about new features, but also bug fixes. Issues addressed in this latest build are:
  • Green Screen issues when watching Video
  • Fixed an issue which green screens could appear in some video applications
  • Intermittent flickering Black screens
  • Fixed an issue in which black screens would appear, in games, apps or when navigating the dashboard
The latest preview build is version th2_xb_rel_1603.160304-1900, and you should be able to grab a copy right now if you are signed up to get preview builds.
