Following its introduction of the Life Pro last month and both the Studio 5.0 II and Advance 4.0 earlier this week, BLU Products has now added another new member to its stable of smartphones. Dubbed the BLU Life Pure, the device features a pretty beefy spec list that makes it one of the highest-end handsets that the company offers.
Up front is a 5-inch 1080p display that’s fully laminated and scratch resistant, as well as a 5-megapixel shooter that BLU says is great for selfies thanks to the inclusion of “auto beauty effects and instant facial beauty support” in the software. Around back lives a 13-megapixel camera that’s been tricked out with backside illumination, an anti-reflection coating and a 5-element lens.
Diving inside of the Life Pure’s body, which BLU notes is made from a single piece of polycarbonate, we’re greeted by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 2000mAh battery. Also included is support for GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz and 42Mbps HSPA+ on either the 850/1900MHz or 850/2100MHz bands, as well as advanced DTS surround audio tech and dual mic noise cancellation.
On the software side of things, BLU has loaded the Life Pure with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Unlike most of its other handsets, though, the Life Pure isn’t running a vanilla version of Google’s mobile operating system. Instead, it’s got a custom UI that BLU describes as being “designed for pure simplicity of use and beauty.” The UI focuses on gestures and motion sensor tech and offers features such as Smart Dial, Smart Answer, Gesture Answer and Video Smart Pause.
BLU says that the Life Pure is now shipping to distributors, dealers and online retailers in the U.S. and Latin America. The device will be available in Matte Black or Ceramic White Finish for $349 unlocked. That’s a pretty good price for a no contract smartphone that features a 5-inch 1080p screen and quad-core processor, and while we’ll have to wait to get the Life Pure into our grubby mitts to see how it performs in real life, it may be worth at least keeping this device in the back of your mind for now if you’re in the hunt for a new handset.
